What age do you need to be to start flight training?
While you can have flying experiences at any age, for the training to count towards a Private Pilot Licence the student will need to be 14 or older. From age 16 students can go solo (which is usually around 15 hours into a training course). From age 17 onwards the student is able to take their final skills test to then get their Private Pilot Licence issued.
If you are doing part time training you can start from 14 and spread the 45 hours of flight time across a few years. If you are doing a full time course (with us thats about 6 weeks) then you’d ideally be 17 by the time the course ends, however you can come back later to take your test if need be.
